RESIDENTIAL & DEVELOPER GARDEN DESIGNS

THE BUILDER CENTRE PROJECT
John Kenny was contracted for three years running in the early 2000's to illustrate and design the 'Live in Landscapes' Campain' for 'The Builder Centre'. The Builder Centre was a nationwide chain of stores selling building and home improvement materials. The campaign was a great success resulting in good sales for their garden products. The garden designs were all built as a set piece and photographed and featured throughout the brochures which were stocked in all the stores nationwide.

THE HAMMERSMITH HOSPITAL PROJECT
I was approached by Hammersmith Hospital in Central London to design their very neglected roof garden. It clearly was a very valuable outdoor space. At 200m2 it was directly connected to the wards where patients could go for fresh air and relaxation. Funding came from a donation via a previous patient and I set about designing a space where people could sit and have lunch, read and have private conversations with staff and visitors. Many brightly coloured and scented flowers fill the space and breath new life into the roof garden. Many plants have a healing property including anti-carsenogenic herbs. Signage will explain their traditional medicinal uses

THE HAMPTON COURT FLOWER SHOW PROJECT
1998 RHS Hampton Court Flower Show - 'Gold Medal'. Whilst employed as Head Designer for a well respected major Landscaping company near London, I designed the 'Daily Mail Pavillion Gardens' for The Daily Mail newspaper. The design was months in the planning which ultimately was rewarded with a Gold Medal and Best in Show. I project managed the building of the gardens by an expert team of our own employees who themselves, played an important part in the gardens success

THE MEDMENHAM ABBEY PROJECT
This 14th Century Abbey on the banks of the River Thames near Henley was a unique but neglected space. The project to re design the space required great sensitivity to retain the patina and period look of the property whilst bringing it up to modern living. Much work went into designing a subterranean flood relief system before we could set about designing the central courtyard. Bespoke Porphyry setts were imported from Italy to pave the drive whilst specimen trees and shrubs gave the courtyard an instant aged finish
