MEDIUM GARDEN

And Relax...

And Relax...

The Brief:

The Brief:

Originally a tired and outmoded sub urban garden, the clients wanted to transform the plot into a plant lovers paradise which they could enjoy coming into early retirement. They wanted a soft abundant feel to the planting with cottage garden planting backed up by all year-round evergreen shrubbery punctuating the borders.

The clients were happy to see, smell and feel a great range of plants at every opportunity including over timber structures straddling paths and steps. Every terrace, bench and path were softened by beautiful plants - the clients surrounded by their passion.

The Solution

The Solution

The garden was set out with an array of borders enjoying a variety of aspects to suit many different plant species. Micro climates of sun, shade and semi shade were allocated plants adapted to suit these climates.

Over forty tonnes of soil was imported into the site to improve soil conditions and terrace the uneven ground. A series of circles and curves create a journey through the gardens with planting delicately cutting in and out of the eye line.

The Outcome:

The Outcome:

The clients are proud to tend this garden – it’s certainly the best looked after garden we have designed. It is crammed with plants throughout yet does not feel overbearing and the hard and soft elements are perfectly balanced.

As the clients sit within their gravelled alpine planted terrace near the house, a bespoke David harbor sundial set amongst colourful herbs pulls the eye down the garden through a wisteria clad arbour and puts the final touch on this very successful project which is often mentioned by visitors to our web site.
John was a delight to work with and was very thorough putting the design brief together. We couldn’t be more pleased with the end result which is the garden of our dreams.
