MEDIUM GARDEN
The timeless charm of this stunning riverside house - ornate in all its surroundings it commands fantastic views of the river Thames in Maidenhead west of London.
We were immediately drawn to the high-quality finish and attention to detail that the clients and the architect had brought to this stunning period home and this just had to be replicated in the gardens design and build. Us designers like to pick up on the style and detail of beautiful houses and bring it into play in the exterior design thus visually linking the property together as a whole.
Careful thought was needed to blend the design in to the river landscape and local period character. Decorative ironwork on the house provided inspiration and this was repeated in the railings that separated the front gardens from the rear gardens and did help to keep the family dog to the rear of the property.
To marry the detail and quality of the interior we sourced aged oak timbers to build garden structures and age-old York stone found during the garden clearance was reclaimed to create the pathways and terraces. Plant repetition makes for a soothing experience as you are enticed to explore the gardens soaking up the riverside atmosphere and the gentle life the clients desire.
This classic garden design sets the beautiful house centre stage along with a stunning old magnolia tree in the front of the property, a path then leads the way through vine covered gateways and pergolas to a formal circular lawn and some stone terrace seating enjoying a warm south facing position.
Following the path on you arrive at set of comfortable out door sofas positioned on a raised deck where the private riverside dock on a meandering River Thames can be enjoyed. The garden is brought to life at night with the use of lighting that casts shadows and adds a warm glow to the detail in the finished garden – this attention to detail in the planting, finishes and accessories give a rich timeless character to the spaces and significantly enhances the appeal of the entire property
